On April 21, 2017 the President signed an executive order requiring the Secretary of the Treasury to review all regulations that were issued after December 31, 2015.

The Treasury secretary is looking to identify any regulations that may have created undue financial burden on U.S. taxpayers or added complexity to the already complicated tax laws, or tax laws that exceed the statutory authority of the IRS.

The report is required within 60 days of the date of the order and recommendations to mitigate the identified burden must be submitted within 150 days.  The final report will be published in the Federal Register when it is submitted to the president.
