Tax Deadline Extensions and Reminders

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government has moved the individual tax filing due date from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020.

Additionally, the due date for Federal income tax payments (including payments of tax on self-employment income) and Federal income tax returns due on April 15, 2020 (for the 2019 taxable year) has been automatically postponed to July 15, 2020.

However, Federal income tax returns and payments as well as Federal estimated income tax payments that are due after April 15, 2020 are NOT postponed under this IRS notice.

While a handful of states have granted tax filing deadline relief, their extension due dates vary and may differ from the July 15th filing due date issued by the IRS.

MSN.com has put out an article including state deadlines.  Note these may change and it’s best to check directly with your individual state’s treasury websites.  Click here to see your state’s tax filing deadline.
